A TOBV is an advanced version of a butterfly valve designed to eliminate the friction and wear associated with traditional butterfly valves. Its key features are:

Three Offsets:

  1. Shaft Offset: The shaft is located behind the valve seat plane.
  2. Shaft Offset (Second): The shaft axis is offset from the pipe centerline.
  3. Geometric Offset (The Critical One): The seat cone angle is offset from the centerline of the disc. This is the most important feature.

Key Advantages:

  • Bubble-Tight Shut-off: The offset design ensures that the disc only contacts the seat in the final few degrees of closing, creating a mechanical seal without friction. This provides a true metal-to-metal, zero-leakage seal.
  • No Friction / Long Life: Because the disc doesn't rub against the seat during operation, there is virtually no wear, leading to a much longer service life.
  • Suitable for High Temperatures & Pressures: The all-metal construction (typically stainless steel, duplex, etc.) makes it ideal for steam, hydrocarbons, and other demanding industrial applications where resilient-seated valves would fail.
  • Fire-Safe Design: As a standard feature, the metal seat provides fire-safe performance.

Primary Application:

Potable Water Transmission Mains: Large-diameter, high-pressure pipelines that are the "arteries" of a water distribution network. The TOBV provides reliable, bubble-tight isolation for sections of the main, which is critical for pressure management and maintenance.

Critical Process Water in Industry: In power plants, pharmaceutical, and food & beverage industries, where the process water must be kept pure and valve reliability is essential for uninterrupted production.
